Lecture 10: Project 3
In today's class, we learned Motion
Tracking. Motion Tracking is a cinematic technique that lets you
insert computer graphics, such as images or text, or anything
graphical, into live-action footage with the correct position, scale,
orientation, and motion relative to the objects in the shot. In other
words, it's one of the other cool effects we learned today. Also, Mr.
Fauzi gave out a quick brief on Project 3.

In Project 3, we are assigned to create a channel identity of the previous project 2, channel bumper. Channel Bumper was more of a teaser, and Channel Identity is a whole trailer. We are required to use the knowledge received from project 1 and project 2 on project 3.
As a starter, I looked into a couple videos on Youtube to get an idea of what to do.

( I had to put the past students' work here instead, as I couldn't find any other anywhere on Youtube. )
PROPOSAL
I will use more game clips in Channel Identity to create a full trailer. Few changes and details will be seen in the clips, and I want to create a lengthened version of what is shown in Channel Bumper. The details and changes I and making are simply using different audios, more than one audio, better transition, effects, and more clips. But more of the same art style, color palette, and typography.
Moodboards
As I have said above, I am trying to keep the details in the Channel Identity the same because it will give out a different vibe which I am trying to avoid, but I have better ideas to use to upgrade the quality of my video. Now that I have learned more about Adobe After Effects.
References
I look up horror games trailer and find inspirations where I can apply the same tricks to my Channel Identity. A few were different, but almost all the horror trailers looked and executed the same, but I found one to two that got my attention.
First, I love how this one started with a talking scene; there was no tension, but then it changed pace with audio and effects to make that happen. It is a mobile game.

As for the second reference I found. Well, it is not a game, but the feel it had is what I wanted to execute in this project. It is similar to the first clip I showed above.

Art Style, Color Palette and Typography
The art style, color palette, and typography are the same as the previous except I didn't really draw a character last time, which I will do in this project.

Sketches & Ideas
The only sketches I am making are for extra details to the video; the rest, it's an expansion of the first one.
Storyboards
Expansion of the first one. Here is the storyboard from my first project.

Progresses
Clips
To decide the clips I am adding to this, I needed to watch the entire gameplay of the video, and the shorter was to watch all the cutscenes. It took long hours to find sound clips. And here are the two videos, or in other words, two primary sources from YouTube where I will get the clips.

Adding Soundtrack
I chose Drawn to Darkness for the soundtrack, an original sound from the game itself. The reason for it is that it has that intensity at the start, then slows down at the end in a creepy manner. Horror like the type of sound, and I really like it. As for the other reason, it s more straightforward to use the soundtrack from the game itself rather than finding a new one. The sound is linked below for hearing purposes:
Not to forget, there is another soundtrack, including a clip that will be added at the start of it. Here is the clip with the sound (0secs-12secs).

Editing
The most challenging and final step in completing this project is editing. I will start by piecing different cut scenes/clips from the game together while matching the soundtrack that was added at the start.

After countless hours of piecing the clips together, I am finally ready to take the next step. The next step consists of putting my early sketches into the clip. The only problem I encountered here was the timing of when to put the sketches in. It did take me a while to figure out the timing, but I managed it in the end.

And for the final touch for this project is putting a certain amount of effects and transitions. There were only so many interesting ones to use, so I used the same old effects with a few new ones. Here is the progress of me doing it:

REFLECTION
Project 3: Channel Ident/ Identity
Channel Identity was especially a fun project. I was able to expand my skills on using After Effects, I was able to experiment with a lot of things, I encountered a lot challenges which I overcame, and I made myself a better editor overall. Although I still need to improve, I would keep using After Effects for future uses, experimenting with various new ideas to improve.
