TASKS

Task 1: Proposal

Introduction
Task 1, Proposal, aims to present the research, knowledge, sketches, historical context, etc. And as far as I remember, I only joined the module at the start of week 2. Our group already had one idea in mind: Japanese Fireworks. After the second class, we started brainstorming more ideas, and here are the topics we came up with.

     1. Japanese Fireworks
     2. Food Festival Of The Dead
     3. Malay Traditional Outfits

Research
After discussing some more, we decided to focus on one topic only: Malay Traditional Outfits. Then we immediately divided the work amongst ourselves as soon as we were done coming up with the topics. I will be researching the background of cultural outfits. It took us a couple of days to finish up our work together. And we were done. Here is the first draft of it:

Fig. 1 Proposal - First Draft

We almost got feedback from our lecturer immediately after submitting; we needed to improve in research, most importantly, the significance of our cultural topic. And we noticed that our slides were completely different from others. So we had to completely change our slides before the next class, where we would have to do a presentation.

But unfortunately, most of our groupmates were not there to help with the rest, as some were in China and others were quite sick. Nevertheless, I had to make the slides get us ready before the presentation.

I have decided to incorporate the previous topics in the research too, and then it will end up with the last one, Malay Traditional Outfits. I didn't sleep for the day and finished the slides in hours. And here is its final draft (which can be found below under submissions).

Presentation
On the day of the presentation, we presented and were told that our research was well done, but we needed to make a good idea for the topic of our choice.

More Research
So, in the end, we came up with an idea to create an app for Malay Traditional Outfits, where people's opinions and designs matter.

Task 2: Data Collection

After everyone had re-group from their own businesses, we started with the second task of the entire module, Data Collection. We needed clarification about what to do but after some discussions. It's better to split up the work and focus on our work. As usual, here is the link to our data collection slides.

Final Task: Poster

The final Poster was pretty simple, but before we arrived at the Poster, we had to be done with the app and all. So we used the data collected previously and created the app (Harpreet made the app using all the sketches and ideas we incorporated in Data Collection).

If you want to view the app, look at our poster below and scan the QR code.

REFLECTIONS

Task 1: Proposal

There were up and down moments in Proposal; as a group, we communicated well with each other, but there were times when others were just silent. We thought we were headed in the right direction, but we were not; we fabled pretty a bit, but I clutched it with slides. That part was quite stressful, but at the same time, it was excellent as I learned other cultural significance, the history, and how it came to be now it is, which was quite resourceful.

Task 2: Data Collection

We got our heads back in the game in the second project. We worked better as group mates starting here. We came up with ideas on how to collect data, and everyone did their part. Doing the survey was a great idea; we created the questions and sent the survey to our Instagram followers, friends, and family to look at other people's opinions on ideas and progress. We initially wanted to interview a lecturer, but there was no time.

Final Task: Poster

We did the poster quickly, combining the data we collected and the information we had accumulated into the poster. I was the one who came up with the idea that the poster should look traditional to match our topic, Malay Traditional Outfit.
