LECTURES
Week 1 // 13.01.2023
Lecture 1: Flip Topic 1
In the first module lecture, we were
introduced to the module by our lecturers, Mr. Martin and Mr.
Hafiz (only will be available in week 4). The task we were going
to do through the seven weeks, the task for the week, and so on. We learned the different types of infographics by doing the task
given to us on the day, and we also had a quick brief on Motion
Graphics.

Week 2 // 20.01.2023
Lecture 2: Flip Topic 2
In week 2, we learned the basics of L.A.T.C.H. and how to do Kinetic Typography using After Effects by Mr. Martin. We were also tasked with the group and individual exercises for the week.

Week 3 // 27.01.2023
Lecture 3: Flip Topic 3
In the third semester class, we learned the law of Miller's. In other words, it is Chunking. Chunking is a progression term where we all separate individuals' information and piece them together into larger units. In the same class, we were tasked to present a presentation on the topic and the examples. Then, we would be given a task for the week: creating a Motion Graph Chart.

Week 4 // 03.02.2023
Lecture 4: Flip Topic 4
Today's class taught us about Manuel Lima's 9 Directives Manifesto. And as usual, we had to present as a group about the topic and show exam examples of o display and utilize design for each directive had to present one good design infographic that best shows the 9 directives. And finally, we were shown a few examples of our next task of the week, vector/character animation.

Task 1: Group
In the first week, we are tasked with various
tasks that must be completed before the next class. For
the first task of the week, which we did during the class. We had
to make a slide explaining the details of the different
infographics types and show examples. And then present it in
class.
As for my group, we split up the work
amongst ourselves and finished it in 30 minutes or so. Here is our
work:

Task 2: Individual
As for the second task, we are tasked to redesign a poorly constructed infographic poster. While searching for a lousy poster on the internet, I found this one particular poster.

It could be a better poster, but it could be much better. The use of similar colors made it worse, as it can confuse readers to digest the information shown in this poster. In the worst-case scenario, the reader might have digested the information entirely wrong, which could lead to many other disasters. And there could be other better options than pie charts, such as bar charts, because they can be mixed up, making it slightly more challenging to digest information.

I found a few ways to create a better infographic in Canva because it's easier to edit in Canva as they have templates made for you. And I found two that caught my intention. One is the bar chart, and the other is a donut shape chart.
But after a few trials and errors while editing the infographic. I found that using the donut shape chart is better than the bar charts.

I used the China flag as the background to show that investment was made in China. Some people read visuals better than words. The contrast color is used on the donut chart so it can be easily seen and read. I have also used other colors to show the differences between percentages and make them easy to identify.

Rating and review of online tool used (Canva)
Intuitiveness 4/5
It is simple to use Canva. It is easy to learn the tools given in Canva, and although it can be weird initially, it takes a short time to learn it all. All it takes is a quick glance and click to learn how to use the tools.
It is simple to use Canva. It is easy to learn the tools given in Canva, and although it can be weird initially, it takes a short time to learn it all. All it takes is a quick glance and click to learn how to use the tools.
Usefulness 4/5
Canva is a unique free website that offers a lot of editing tools and shortcuts for you and has a lot of made templates and designs for users if they want to avoid creating one. And it is easy to create one, and Canva is like a combination of Slides, PowerPoints, and a little Photoshop.
Design templates 3/5
There are a variety of templates to use, although most are simple and basic. Not to say there aren't good ones, but it takes time to find one. Most of the good templates are usually premium where and you need to pay to use that once. The only ways to get a good template are to find one or create one of your own, which takes time and is not preferable if you're rushing.
Exercise 1: Quantify & visualize data (10%)
Exercise 1 involves students quantifying and visualizing data using coins, legos, and stationaries. Anything countable. As for me, I have decided to use coins to complete exercise 1. There are steps to it; firstly, I need to get the data necessary to do this exercise: the coins I mention.
Data
Fig. 1.5 Coins (Data)
17th January 2023
After I have collected the data and put it in place. The second step is to sort it out and then arrange it. I have done two for the second step, and here are there.

As for the final step, I have to present the data visually. In other words, presenting the data in a way that can be reprinted visually and appealing. It doesn't have to be complicated; the key things are it has to be simple and aesthetic. I have found two ways to do this.
Data presented visually

Exercise 2: L.A.T.C.H.
In the second week of this module, we were given our second exercise, L.A.T.C.H. In other words, we have to create a visual infographic poster using the principles of L.A.T.C.H. L.A.T.C.H. is known as location, alphabet, time, category, and hierarchy.
I decided to use one of the recommendations, pokemon, to complete this exercise. Firstly I checked out for inspiration that I could use and found this particular style I like.
Fig. 2.0 Reference
21st January 2023
After finding a good reference, I needed the information to create my poster. As pokemon is word wide famous, it was easy to gather the information I needed. I am planning to create a similar poster to the Reference with my own twists and info that I gathered. I am doing one for Pokemon SoulSilver. The elite four, to be specific.
Source: https://www.serebii.net/heartgoldsoulsilver/elitefour.shtml#:~:text=The%20Elite%20Four%20in%20HeartGold,you%20face%20a%20decent%20challenge.
I was done gathering information and the Reference I needed. It is time to start. I started by coloring the background using Procreate. I tried to mix a few colors, such as silver and white or brown and white.
Fig. 2.1 Background 1
21st January 2023
Fig. 2.2 Background 2
21st January 2023
I decided to use the first background, silver mixed with white. I move to the next step, sketching the poster's design. Since it's a pokemon-based poster, I have chosen pokeball as the main attraction of this poster, and I added the pokemon game logo.
Fig. 2.3 First Draft
21st January 2023
I then expanded the Pokeball and started drawing the floors of each elite four.
Fig. 2.4 Second Draft
21st January 2023
A sudden thought came to me as I was putting all the designs together. The design didn't look appealing, so I experimented with colors. I changed the background color to plain brown and cored the Pokeball and the floors between them. After that, I put all the elite four with their pokemon on each floor. I removed the original pokemon logo and used an entirely different one.
Fig. 2.3 Third Draft
23rd January 2023
As I mentioned early on, I had gotten the information necessary to complete the poster. So I am finally putting the information I gathered into the poster, but the problem was how to put it while it looks appealing. I tried various styles, and here's what I came up with.

Week 3 Tasks
The first task given during the class was to explain the week's topic, "Chunking," in a slide and then present it in a group. Here is our group's work:

Week 4 Tasks
As usual, for the first task of week 4, we have to elaborate and give examples of this week's topic: Manuel Lima's 9 Directives Manifesto. And to present it afterward in class as we were done with it. Here is our group's work:

REFLECTION
FLIP Classroom & Exercises
I learned quite a lot in the FLIP Classroom throughout the weeks, which helped me with the tasks given alongside the class. It was knowledgeable and easy as you researched and discussed it with your group mates. And as for the individual exercises, L.A.T.C.H, which I find interesting, uses five principles to create a poster because I never thought of it that way before. This helps make it easier to organize and just know what to do on the poster, as I am usually clueless. And along the way, using L.A.TC.H would definitely help me in the future poster I might create. And do not forget to mention that I find each process fun and a new experience.
