REFLECTION
Experience
At the start of the module, I must say that I wasn't really interested in the module as I thought Typography would be such a boring module. I mean, we are talking about letters; how can that be fun. That's what I thought, but surprisingly, Typography is fun. I learned to express words and create layouts, fonts, and stickers. Not only that, I learned how to use Adobe Illustrator because I know for a fact that I won't ever touch it if it weren't for Typography. Now that I know how to use it, it has helped a lot in my daily life. Although Typography was great and all, I had one regret, which was not being able to do my work correctly entirely. I could do better than this and all that. But there was no time; honestly, I wish I had spent more time doing Typography.
Observations
Typography is complex; honestly, I am not kidding. In the beginning, I thought it would be easy, and that I could do this work easily. Like look at this, "expressing words?", "making layouts?"; it seems so easy, which is not true at all. I regret underestimating the module. It actually took me hours to finish one step of the work because, in Typography, it is essential not to overlook the little details as it could mess your work up entirely. Typography, too, requires you to have a big brain for creativity. That was what I found out about Typography throughout this semester. Honestly, never have I had to sit down on my chair looking intensely through my computer, doing my work before. Because I am lazy, I'm not particularly eager to work a lot, but if it's something I am interested in, then I am up for it.
Findings
When I said, you need to have a big brain for creativity. I don't mean putting so many details or graphical elements because that is what I have learned not to do in Typography. Because having too many details apparently doesn't mean it will be great at all. Sometimes simplicity is the answer because we humans always try to overthink, you know, stuff like "what should I add?", "how should I impress my lecturer?" when the task is so simple and direct. Because of this exact reason (overthinking), we aren't able to produce a good result. We need to be able to explore new ways; maybe simplicity is one of them; it doesn't always have to be rainbows and such. I was like this throughout the semester, overthinking, and I regretted it. I regretted underestimating the work, which led to overthinking, which consumed a lof of time, resulted in no good job done. But it was still fun, though. And that is all from me. Adios Amigos!
